White Sands National Monument

First the difference between a National Park and a National Monument- As described by several rangers a park is designated by act of Congress and signed by the president where a Monument is only by presidential proclamation.

In southwest New Mexico these sands were very white, made from selenite crystals broken down into gypsum sand and luckily it wasn’t blowing that day or it can get miserable. On to West Texas
